"The portrait you have done of my late husband Mark is the most stunning portrait I have ever seen. Thank you for capturing his happy personality."
Kenna Sellers
Step one:
The artist and client have a phone meeting or an in person meeting. We decide the following:
* Type of portrait, casual or formal
* Clothing, pose, setting (indoors or outside)
* What size and where the portrait will hang
During this time the artist will spend time getting to know the subject, their personality and interest. At the end of the first meeting, a second meeting is scheduled for digital photos and a life head study.
Step two:
At the second meeting we discuss the general direction of the portrait and begin a 2 to 3 hour session at the client's home, office, artist studio or another location. During this session we will:
*Begin many digital photographs taken by the artist
*The artist will complete a head study from life
*After reviewing digital photographs, the client and artist will decide on the best photo reference
* A 40% deposit is required at this meeting.
Step Three
The artist will prepare a simple sketch of the composition before starting on the final canvas.
This "mini painting" is not for likeness, but serves to illustrate the general direction of the painting. This sketch needs client approval before beginning final painting.
Step Four
The final painting is created by artist using all life head studies, sketches and photo references.
Step Five
The final painting is unveiled. The artist may request an additional sitting. After the artist and client are completely satisfied with the painting, the painting is delivered. The balance is due at the completion of the painting.
